At Hazardous Waste Management Ltd, we offer a full soil and land remediation service as part of our comprehensive Contracting service.  The golden thread running through all our processes is firmly based on the principles of sustainable development to protect and enhance the environment.

Land is contaminated if it is or may cause harm to groundwater streams and coastal waters. Protecting public health and the environment is key.  Our processes can be used to clean up a multitude of soil contaminants and can involve physical, chemical and biological methods.  Physical methods such as excavation and containment may be used, while treatment may be required using chemical and biological methods including bioremediation.

HWM will always begin the process with a complete assessment of the contamination to ascertain the most appropriate treatments required for your site.  Our remediation techniques will ensure that land is cleaned and restored for either its existing use or a proposed new use.  Some remediation can take place on-site, however we can also remove soil for off-site treatment and washing at our licensed Soil Treatment facility. 

There are legal responsibilities to ensure that the ecological integrity of the site is maintained or enhanced which may include sensitive work to guard protected species e.g. bats, dormice, breeding birds et.al. on site.  Remediation could also require the removal of invasive species e.g. Himalayan balsam, Japanese knotweed et.al. to encourage native species to flourish especially on and near Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI’s).

As a developer, you may be able to claim Land Remediation Relief, including consultancy fees, on qualifying expenditure.
